Thornton in Craven Cricket Club

Welcome to Thornton in Craven Cricket Club

Thornton in Craven Cricket and Sports Field, at the bottom of Booth Bridge Lane has been home of the Cricket Club since 1898.

The cricket club itself has a somewhat chequered history, its membership of the Craven League having twice been interrupted by war. Records show a Thornton team in 1915 and then after the war in 1920. After the second of these interruptions the club restarted with the playing of friendly matches in the 1947 season. We rejoined The Craven League in 1948

We have been the Craven and District Division One Champions on nine occasions 1957, 1960, 1969, 1977, 1978, 1983, 1984, 1992 and 2000.

The Wynn Cup has been won by Thornton seven times in 1962, 1973, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1981 and 1993 and have been runners up on 7 occasions.

We have been Division Two winners three times, in 1952, 1998, and 2010.

The 1st XI currently play in Division 3.

The 2nd XI have been Division 2 winners three times, in 1927, 1928 & 1977. They have also won the Cowling Cup once in 2001 and have been runners up twice.

We do not currently enter a 2nd XI in the Craven League.
